On micro.blog I’m fast approaching the number of posts I have on my “proper” blog. Frictionless matters.
Got to spend some time on a couple of painting studies this weekend. I’m noticing a tendency I have to enlarge the eyes and elongate the face. Even when I think I’m making corrections along the way - I’m still exaggerating the facial features.
I am discovering Wade Guyton - an ink-jet painter (so to speak). A digital artist who uses the printer and it’s faults as his medium. Wikipedia refers to him as a “post-conceptual” artist - which seems like a given for anyone who went to art school
Went by my local diner-dive for breakfast today. Some genius figured out you can just put the eggs benedict right on top of of the hash browns, skipping the english muffins entirely.
I am playing with Krita for the first time. Holy cats this is a powerful tool. It’s not refined like my beloved Procreate or as polished as Pixelmator. But it’s pretty solid and fast on my old hardware. Also, avocados. 🥑
I’m playing around with a new tablet display. I decided to test out Photoshop for the first time in years. Pixelmator (not Pro, the basic one at $39.99 in the app store) matches Photoshop in terms of performance on large files. (11x17 @ 300dpi)
Bold abstract painting by John Phillip Abbot.
I like the text-as-image-as-pattern thing a lot. I also like that the work ranges from pocket-sized to ginormous
I’m finding that my only use of Twitter these days is to verify that my micro.blog posts are making it over there. Telling. I think Twitter is kind of the walking dead at this point.
“The Wave” is a gorgeous ad. I don’t even care that it’s about skin creme.
Mornin’ ma’am.
The only good thing about a long train commute is having the time to do a little drawing each morning. If I catch the early train I have time to stop for a cup of coffee and internet before I head into the office.
These are fun. Not helpful, but fun.
Morning train painting. This handsome fellow showed up in a Uniqlo email. I think he wants me to buy that jacket. I’ve already got a jacket.
I like leaving my palette in the background of sketches. When I look back I can remember what I did right or wrong.
